Location: Jordaan
Amsterbed Elandsgracht
After some travelling, we settled in Amsterdam. To live, to work and to grow up. Amsterdam is a great city, and the Jordaan is like a warm village in the historical citycenter with a long very Dutch tradition.
In former times the Jordaan was an area where poverty was vividly represented. However, people in this area know to enjoy life in spite of it's harshness in the older times. The intrisical happiness of the original Jordanese was celebrated in the so called "bruine cafe's" (brown pubs), where they drank beers and "pikketanisies" while singing loud and clear how happy they were to live here in the Jordaan and not elsewhere.
Either rich or poor, people living in the Jordaan still love to live here. This results in a happy and open atmosphere in the streets, jokes and friendliness all over, flowers and green everywhere and pubs and terraces on the corner of every street.
As a new person in Amsterdam, you will be welcomed by the people. You will love the coffee and apple pie, the beers, or maybe even the "piketanisies". Maybe you will appreciate or even love the traditional folk music of the Jordan, that is up to you. :)
Whether by foot or by bike, explore the city of Amsterdam and when you walk back in the evening over the bridges with their little lights, I guess you will visit at least one more "bruin cafe" before you come back to your comfortable room with kingsize bed at Amsterbed.
The next morning, breakfast will be served on your bed, in your room, or - if the weather is sunny and shiny- in the lushful green private garden that comes with the room. To start the day in a shiny way, a day full of new adventures and venues.
